This Is What Changed Looks Like
WHAT WE BELIEVE
An Outward Expression of an Inward Change
“We were buried with him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life.”
Romans 6:4
Why We Baptize

Common Questions
Does baptism save me?
No. Baptism does not save you – it celebrates your salvation. The Bible is clear that salvation comes through faith, not through a ceremony. Baptism is the outward expression of an inward change that has already happened. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
I was baptized as a baby or as a child. Do I need to be baptized again?
That’s a great question. Infant baptism is meaningful in many traditions, but baptism as we practice it here is a personal declaration – something you choose because you have personally decided to follow Jesus. If you’d like to talk through your specific situation, just reach out to one of our pastors. There’s no pressure either way.
What if I’ve done a lot of bad stuff?
Then you are exactly who baptism is for. The whole point is that Jesus changed you. None of us come to the water with a clean record. That’s not the requirement. The requirement is a changed heart.
Can my kids be baptized?
Yes. If your child has made a personal decision to follow Jesus and they understand what baptism means, we would love to walk through it with your family. Reach out to our team and we’ll help figure out the right timing and next steps.
Do I have to be a member of River Valley?
No. You don’t have to be a member or even attend regularly. If you want to be baptized, we want to help make that happen.
What do I wear? What do I bring?
Wear clothes you’re comfortable getting wet – athletic shorts or leggings work great. We’ll give you a towel and a dry shirt. For river baptisms, same deal. Bring a change of clothes and bring your people.
Can I bring my family and friends?
Please do. Seriously. Baptism is meant to be witnessed and celebrated by the people who love you. The more, the better.
What if I’m nervous?
Good. That means it matters. Our team will walk with you through every step. Nobody goes through it alone.
What’s the difference between church and river baptism?
Both are full-immersion baptism and both are equally meaningful. The river baptism happens once a year and tends to draw a bigger crowd – people come from all over Central Texas for them. Church baptisms happen more regularly and are great if you don’t want to wait.
How do I sign up?
