SUMMER 2026
A Week They’ll Talk About All Year
Day Camp. Overnight Camp. Student Camp. Summer at River Valley is built for the kind of weeks that shape who your kid becomes.
WHY IT MATTERS
Camp Changes Things
Something happens at camp that doesn’t happen anywhere else.
Take a kid out of their routine, put them around other kids who are asking the same questions, give them leaders who actually invest in them – and watch what changes. We see it every summer. Kids who were quiet come home confident. Teens who were distant come home connected.
Camp is not just a fun week. It’s often the week everything clicks.
At River Valley, we’re serious about the camp experience – from the programs we choose to the adult leaders we send with your kids. Your child is known by name, watched over carefully, and invested in deeply.
Trained Adult Leaders
Every camp leader is a vetted volunteer who knows your kid by name. This is not babysitting. It’s mentorship.
Safe, Vetted Venues
We partner with established camps that meet our safety standards – background-checked staff, secure facilities, and clear emergency protocols.
Real Life Change
We hear the stories every year. A kid decides to be baptized. A teen reconnects with their faith. A friendship forms that lasts for years.
Find Your Camp

Student Camp
Five days. Real conversations. A faith that belongs to them.
Student Camp at Timberline Baptist Camp in Lindale is five days specifically built for the questions, pressures, and moments that define the teen years. This is not a surface-level experience – it’s worship that goes deep, messages that are honest, leaders who tell the truth, and time to actually figure out what your student believes and why.
Teens come home from this camp different. That’s the goal.
Payment plans are available. Don’t let cost be the reason they miss this.

Parent Questions – Answered
We know you have questions. Here are the ones we hear most.
What if my child has never been away from home overnight?
Overnight Camp is actually a great first experience – your child is going with familiar faces from River Valley, not strangers. Our adult leaders are experienced with homesick kids and will give your child personal attention. Most kids forget they were nervous within the first hour. And if something comes up, we’ll call you.
How do you handle medical needs, allergies, and medications?
Before camp, you’ll complete a health form that captures everything we need to know – allergies, medications, dietary restrictions, and any other needs. Our team reviews every form. Medications are stored and administered by a designated adult. If your child has a significant medical need, reach out to Lauren or Austin directly before registering so we can talk through specifics.
Who are the adult leaders going with my child?
Our camp leaders are River Valley volunteers – adults who are already involved in kids and student ministry here. They’re background-checked, trained, and people who know our kids. For overnight and student camps, we maintain adult-to-child ratios that allow leaders to give personal attention. This is not a situation where your kid gets handed off to strangers.
What is your policy on phones and devices for overnight camp?
Phone and device policies vary by camp and age group. For overnight camps, we generally limit phone use to encourage kids and teens to be present – but you’ll receive specific guidance from Lauren or Austin before departure. Parents will always have a way to reach the camp leadership in case of emergency.
What if my child needs to leave early or has an emergency at home?
We’ll have a direct contact line for the camp and for RVC leadership on the ground. If you need your child, we’ll get them to you. We’ll also communicate any situation on the camp side that requires your attention right away.
What should my child pack?
Each camp has a packing list – you’ll receive it after registration is confirmed. In general: weather-appropriate clothing, closed-toe shoes, toiletries, a Bible, and a good attitude. For Overnight and Student Camp, we’ll cover what NOT to bring (including specific electronics guidance).
Can my child attend camp if they’re not a regular attender at River Valley?
Yes. If you’re connected to our church family in any way, your child is welcome. If you’re brand new and wondering whether to come, reach out – Lauren and Austin are both great starting points.
What do I do if cost is a barrier?
Reach out. Seriously – email Lauren for Day Camp and Overnight Camp, or Austin for Student Camp. We don’t publish a formal scholarship process because we’d rather have a real conversation. Spots are limited and we’d hate for a kid to miss out because of finances.
How do I know my child is safe?
We only partner with established camp facilities with strong safety records. Every RVC adult leader is background-checked. Your child checks in and out with accountability. You have a contact line for the duration of camp. And our leaders know that your kid being safe is the floor, not the ceiling – the goal is that they thrive.
What is the refund or cancellation policy?
Cancellation and refund details are being finalized. Please reach out to Lauren (kids camps) or Austin (student camp) for the latest policy information.
My child is right on the age boundary. Are they eligible?
The grade requirements are based on the grade your child completed – so a child finishing 2nd grade this spring is eligible for Overnight Camp starting in July. If you’re not sure which camp is right, reach out to Lauren or Austin and they’ll help you figure it out.
WHAT FAMILIES SAY
Worth Every Bit of the Week Apart
“My daughter came home talking about Jesus like He was her best friend. She made friendships that are still going strong. I cried the whole drive home – happy tears.”
– Camp parent, Bastrop TX
“I didn’t want to go. My mom made me. By day two I didn’t want to leave. Student camp changed the way I think about faith – it’s mine now, not just my parents’.”
– Student camper, Bastrop TX
